The recent student loan scandals have put some fire under the Senate to deal with this issue and make college affordable now. The Higher Education Act is up for reauthorization, and student loans are front and center.
The Campaign for College Affordability has brought together dozens of organizations ranging from Mobilize.org to USSA to Student PIRGs to Campus Progress. Thanks to the great work of this coalition, we are in prime position to see Congress make some long term strides to slashing student interest rates, making the process more efficient, and passing on savings to students.
